Clive Hachilensa, assistant coach of Zesco United Football Club, believes the team is on the right track and will fight to keep its top spot.
This was after his side drew 1-1 in a rescheduled week 2 MTN Super League match at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
Zesco United has had an excellent start to the season, winning three Super League games against Nkana, Napsa, and the Green Eagles, with one draw against Nkwazi.
Zega Mambo is still unbeaten in their last four matches so far this season, sitting atop the table with 10 points.
“Tough encounter in which we came from behind, like I said before the game, we respect the opponents; they have a very experienced coach, Aggrey Chiyangi. We started well but on the middle we lost, but when we made changes at halftime, the team picked up,” Hachilensa said.
He added, “We played four games, three wins, and one draw; we can’t be disappointed. The progress is okay because out of twelve points we have collected ten but we initially wanted twelve points.”
The former defender is confident the team can still maintain the top slot.
“We just need to work hard because all the teams are working hard equally; we just need to maintain what we are doing; maybe we add more. We have a very big squad which we can rotate; I think with the cooperation of the players we can still maintain the top slot.”
Zesco United will face Nchanga Rangers in their next fixture of the Super League on Saturday in Chingola.
