Zambian striker Patson Daka will miss Leicester City’s season opener against Tottenham Hostspur in the English Premier League on Monday after undergoing ankle surgery.
Leicester City manager Steve Cooper has confirmed that Daka, Jamie Vardy, and Conor Coady will all miss Monday’s game at the King Power Stadium.
Daka suffered an ankle injury in last week’s friendly against RC Lens and will be unavailable for selection for some time, while Vardy also sustained an injury earlier in the pre-season.
“Patson [Daka] obviously is not great news,” Cooper said during a press conference on Friday. “He suffered quite a serious ankle injury last week in the game in Lens and he is going to be out for a good few months. He’s having an operation today (Friday). That’s really unfortunate for him because he was looking good in pre-season.”
Following this development, the 25-year-old striker will also miss Zambia’s 2025 Morocco Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers next month.
The Chipolopolo will face reigning AFCON champions, Ivory Coast in Bouake before hosting Sierra Leone in Ndola at the Levy Mwanawansa stadium.
