Ahead of the 2024–25 Zambian Super League season, Nkana Football Club began their ten-day preseason training in Chipata, Eastern Zambia.
At David Kaunda Stadium on Sunday, Kalampa beat the Eastern Province Select team 3-0 in a training game. Patrick Gondwe scored a brace and Royd Katuta, contributed the other goal for Kalampa.
The provincial select side comprised under-24 players from various clubs in the Eastern province.
Second assistant coach Josphat Nkhoma revealed that they will sign at least two players from the provincial select side.
“From the time they arrived at the stadium, we could see the morale, which showed that they were ready to play Nkana and have a place in the team,” Nkhoma said.
Nkhoma says the technical bench will assess the players that show promise in order to decide who can be recruited.
“Looking at the way they’ve played, as a technical bench, we will sit down and do a proper assessment of how every player played and see which players we’ll get”
“Otherwise, it was a good performance from them, noting that Nkana is a big team and these guys only assembled for a day,” Nkhoma said.
