After leading Red Arrows to their second-ever ABSA title, coach Chisi Mbewe expressed his optimism about their current success in the tournament.
Arrows are K800,000 richer following a 2-1 win over Kabwe Warriors in the final that was played at the National Heroes Stadium.
The only blemish for Arrows is that they conceded a goal; otherwise, they had so many things to write home about in this game.
Let’s look at it this way: Ricky Banda scored the quickest goal in ABSA Cup history, scoring inside the first 23 seconds. The win stretched Arrows’ unbeaten run this season to 28 games. It also puts them on the verge of a league-and-cup double.
Should they seal the league in their next match, it will be Mbewe’s second league title at the helm of the club.
However, this success doesn’t seem to move him, he aims for more.
“I am very much proud I think the best is yet to come…I am very happy the way my career is coming up. I think the most important thing is that I just need to keep winning and ensure I achieve more in my coaching career,” Mbewe said.
In a match watched by the head of state, Hakainde Hichilema, Banda powered Arrows home in the opening minute, connecting a ball teed by Alasane Diarra. Banda could have made it two in the 11th minute, but Scot Ngokene rescued Warriors.

Three minutes from the break, Diarra doubled the lead for Arrows before warriors got their consolation through Godfrey Binga in the second half.
