With seven games remaining in the season, coach Oswald Mutapa of Power Dynamos, the defending league champions, has refused to give up on his team, even though log leaders Red Arrows look set to clinch their third league title.

In yesterday’s 1-0 loss against the Airmen at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe. After the loss, Power is now 12 points behind Arrows, who have 57 points.

With seven games to go before the end of the season, Arrows look unstoppable, as they have won 11 of their last 12 matches, drawing one.

However, Mutapa believes that Power, who are defending champions, can still catch the runaway leaders.

“There is no way we would be comfortable where we are. We have to push. Seven games are about 21 points, so we have to push and try to collect maximum points,” Mutapa said.

He described the loss to Arrows at home as painful. Since taking over at “Aba Yellow”, the defeat was his first in charge.

He regretted that his side had not scored a goal in the last three league games. Power has not scored a league goal since March 9, when they beat Kansanshi Dynamos 1–0.

“Not scoring goals is always a source of concern. It is about burying the chances. It is painful to lose this game because we had chances to win it,” he said.

His Arrows counterpart, Chisi Mbewe, was modest in his victory.

“We knew that it was not going to be easy for us to play Power Dynamos at Arthur Davies. We told the players to have mental strength and just apply themselves,” Mbewe said.
