In the 2023 COSAFA Club Championship semifinals, Green Buffaloes Women’s Football Club of Zambia will take on Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa.

This comes after Sundowns’ 4–0 victory over Mozambican team Costa Do Sol in their last Group B match.

Earlier, Esther Banda’s 82nd-minute goal for Green Buffaloes helped them defeat Lesotho Defence Force 2-1.

Three minutes before halftime, Memory Nthala scored an own goal, adding to the 8th minute’s own goal by Khakanyo of the Lesotho Defence Force.

Despite ending level on points with the Nyanta Girls, Buffaloes did not win their group due to Double Action Ladies’ superior goal differential.

Due to their better goal difference, the Action Ladies defeated the Ntopwa Football Club of Malawi 4 nil to take a clear lead in Group A.

Green Buffaloes and Mamelodi Sundowns will not be the first meeting as they will be meeting for the third time in the competition.

The two sides met during the inaugural of the tournament in 2021 at the same stage when Sundowns beat Buffaloes 1 nil in regulation time final the finals.

Green Buffaloes earned the bragging rights in 2022 beating Sundowns on post-match penalities to win their first regional trophy.
