The Zambian Premier League (ZPL) has warned the coaches and other technical staff that are not affiliated to professional bodies will not be allowed to sit on the technical bench next season.
While the rule has been in existence for some time, compliance has been ignored, but the ZPL has warned that next season will be a different affair.
In a Memo addressed to all its members, ZPL chief executive officer Joseph Chimpampwe said referees will be on high alert to check for compliance during pre-match inspection.
“In preparation of the upcoming 2024-25 season, the Zambian Premier League would like to direct all its clubs under its supervision to immediately register all its professional staff particularly those on the technical bench with professional bodies.
“This means all coaches should be registered with ZAFCA and all medical personnel such as Physios, team doctor, psychologists should be fully paid up members of HPCZ” Chimpampwe said.
He said the directive also extends to media officers who are expected to be affiliates of ZIPRC.
“Our match officials will make spot checks for professional accreditation and all technical and media personnel not registered with their professional bodies will not be permitted to sit on the bench during any league or cup matches,” he said.
