Ndola giants Zesco United have officially announced the signing of right-back Benedict Chepeshi on a two-year loan deal from defending champions Red Arrows. The transfer club has announced on social media.
Chepeshi, a regular feature in the Zambian national team, played a crucial role in Red Arrows’ successful campaign last season, where the team clinched the domestic double. His experience and defensive abilities makes him a valuable asset for Zesco United, who are eager to bolster their squad for both domestic and continental competitions.
“Benedict brings a wealth of experience and success to our team, having captained Red Arrows for six years, winning numerous titles, and earning individual accolades,” stated a Zesco United representative.
Nicknamed “The international defende” by many, has an impressive resume, including COSAFA Cup honors and Africa Cup of Nations experience. Chepeshi made his debut at the prestigious tournament in Ivory Coast during the 2023 edition, further cementing his reputation as one of the top defenders in the region.
Upon his arrival at Zesco United, Chepeshi expressed his excitement about joining the Ndola-based side. “I’m happy to be part of this big family. My goal is to win titles with the club and make history,” he said.
The George Lwandamina-led Zesco United believe that Chepeshi’s arrival will significantly enhance their chances of securing a league title this season and achieving continental success.
“We believe Benedict will be instrumental in our quest for the 10th league title and our first-ever TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup trophy,” added the club’s management.
