Green Eagles coach Kebby Hachipuka feels his side was unfairly beaten by Zesco after the Ndola side was awarded a questionable goal.
Zesco scored through Ivorian striker Freddy Michael in the 57th minute to hand Eagles a 1-0 loss at Choma Independence Stadium on Sunday in a Week 21 match. With 30 points, they are still in seventh place after the loss, while Zesco now leads the table with 39 points.
Despite giving up a goal, Hachipuka told reporters his team played well after the game and claimed the goal shouldn’t have counted.
“It was a tough game and we have disappointed our fans,” Hachipuka said. “We planned for Zesco; unfortunately, we didn’t find a goal. Generally, as a team, we played well despite conceding. I think that goal was not supposed to be awarded a goal because there was a foul.”
Looking ahead, Hachipuka said his side’s match against Napsa Stars this weekend will equally be tough.
“It will be a tough game,” he said. “[They are] coming from an away victory and they will be playing at home….. All in all, we will plan for them; they are beatable.”
Eagles will be looking for atonement in their upcoming game after suffering back-to-back losses in their last two games.
The team from Choma has lost five games, drawn nine, and won seven.
