Former Nkana attacker Eric Yema has reacted to his exit from the record Super League winners.

On Wednesday, Kalampa announced the departure of several players on loan deals and permanent basis due to non renewal of contracts.

Among the key players whose contracts were not renewed are Shadrick Banda, Lameck Kafwaya, Laurent Muma, Bob Chansa, Harry Kayula, and Motela Mulambya.

Yema was left out of the team that travelled to Chipata for a 10-day training camp.

The former Kansanshi Dynamos player has now become a free agent after leaving the Kitwe giants after contract renewal talks broke down.

The scorer of three goals in the 2023–24 Super League season says he enjoyed playing for the club.

Yema states that playing for Nkana is about passion above anything, including the paycheck.

Although there were fans who thought the player would stay, it is said that the player’s demands for more money prevented a final deal from being reached.

Yema has refuted those claim, stating that his exit was on mutual grounds.

“I don’t have any problems with Nkana,” Yema said. “And I never played football at Nkana for money. I play with passion and for the team.”

The 31-year-old winger added that there’s no bad blood between him and the club because he acted professionally throughout his time at the club.

“Everything people can say about me, only God knows if I did something bad on the team,” he stated.

The Congolese winger will await offers from other Super League clubs.

Yema has played for three Zambian clubs: Napsa Stars, Kansanshi Dynamos, and Nkana.
