There is pressure to maintain the two-point lead at the top of the MTN Super League standings, according to assistant coach Clive Hachilensa of Zesco United Football Club.
In a Week 24 match, the Ndola team defeated Red Arrows 1-0 thanks to a goal from Pascal Phiri, giving the home team all three points.
In a post-match interview, Hachilensa said there is pressure being the log leaders but urges the players to focus on each game as it comes.
He said playing Arrows was a tough, but the team stepped up to beat the defending champions.
“Really good results, a positive one. That was our objective playing Arrows, but we really appreciate the boys who came to the party, and we had maximum points,” Hachilensa said.
“It Won’t Be Easy” – Hachilensa.
On being title favorites, Hachilensa stated, “Two points is just one game; if we drop down, then they will overtake us. We just need to be working and take each game as it comes to remain focused.”
“Of course pressure should be there; we cannot pretend, but you know we are leading by 2 points and just focus on our games, and it can end like this because we have one advantage: we have two points, but we just focus. This one is a bygone now. Our next encounter is the Indeni; also, it won’t be an easy game, so our target is just to focus on each game as it comes,” he concluded.
The nine-times champions, Zesco United sits at the top of the MTN Super League table with 46 points, while Kabwe Warriors, who beat Zanaco FC 1-0, are second with 44 points. Power Dynamos and Nkwazi are in third and fourth with 42 and 40 points, respectively.
