We don’t miss Binga – Kabwe Warriors coach

According to the club's assistant coach, Kabwe Warriors are not facing a striker crisis.

Kabwe Warriors Football Club assistant coach Derrick Mulenga has dismissed claims that the club is struggling in the absence of their former striker, Godfrey Binga.

Binga left Kabwe Warriors for Napsa Stars during the January transfer window after scoring nine goals for the third-place Kabwe-based team. At Napsa Stars, Binga has only managed to score one goal so far.

The Warriors suffered a 3-1 home defeat to Power Dynamos last Saturday, matching their worst run of the season with two consecutive losses. The last time they lost back-to-back games was in October 2024, when they were defeated 2-1 by Power Dynamos and 0-2 by Red Arrows.

In response to the result, Mulenga stated that there is no scoring crisis at the club following the departure of this season’s reigning joint top scorer, Binga.

We have done well without him- Mulenga

Mulenga emphasized that the team has performed well even without their former reliable goal scorer. “No. I think since he [Binga] went, we have done well. I think the players that are there, they’ve done well for the past games that have been played. So, I think it’s all about encouraging the guys that we have,” said Mulenga.

“The same players that we have, they can also do it. They can also deliver. So, we just have to work on the players that we have at the moment. We can’t look at the players who have gone.”

Mulenga also played down the defeat to Power Dynamos, noting that the club’s goal was to top the log table. He pointed out that there is fatigue among the players and stressed the importance of squad rotation, starting with the next match against FC MUZA.

“We have to look at the recovery process of the players because we are going towards the end of the season. So, there are certain players who are tired, there are certain players who need the recovery, and we will look at the rotation. And, hopefully, that it will work for us and get the results in the coming two games,” he stated.
