FC MUZA head coach Nowell Phiri says his team’s goalless draw against Kansanshi Dynamos is a positive outcome, describing the away point as an important step in their campaign.
Speaking after the match at Independence Stadium, Phiri said the match lacked clear-cut chances for his side, but he was pleased that they remained defensively solid throughout the 90 minutes.
“The draw away from home is a plus to the team because at least we are good travelers. At least we are able to collect a point away from home,” he said.
Asked whether his players executed the match plan as intended, Phiri acknowledged the team’s attacking efforts but noted the lack of decisive opportunities.
“Well, I think we tried to attack, and chances couldn’t come. So we told the boys that if we didn’t concede, then we were not going to lose the game.”
Phiri attributed the result partly to the nature of the contest, insisting nothing fundamentally went wrong.
“Well, I think nothing went wrong. I think it was just the character of the game. We knew it wasn’t going to be an easy game. We are happy that at least we have collected a point—the first time collecting a point at Independence Stadium.”
With MUZA remaining third on the table with 22 points—five behind leaders Red Arrows—Phiri believes the draw strengthens their momentum heading into their next fixture.

“Well, this is a plus to the team. I think going forward we will come strong next time,” he added.
Looking ahead to their upcoming home match against FC Leopards, Phiri expects another difficult challenge.
“Yes, I think we have a game at home. We just need to prepare again for them because it won’t be an easy game. You know, when teams are at the end of the log, it’s not easy.”
Kansanshi Dynamos moved to 14th place with 10 points after the draw.
