In a match played on Sunday at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in week 15, Mufulira Wanderers defeated Forest Rangers 1 nil to achieve their fifth victory of the season.
In October, 2024 Chilumba joined Mighty, after the Club fired Charles Kafula, following a poor results that saw the team, in the relegation zone,
Wanderers have now won three of their last six league games and two straight for the first time this season.
The victory propelled Mighty to 10th place with 19 points from 15 matches played so far.
Clive Biyeta put the visitors ahead in the first half to ensure they travel back with the three points.
The legendary team has recorded five wins, four draws and six defeats this season.
However, since joining Mufulira Wanderers, Head Coach Tenant Chilumba is still unbeaten in the five games he has been in charge.
Addressing the media after match, Chilumba praised the team for the good performance displayed so far and is eyeing a good finish in the first round of the season.
“Zanaco Will Not Be Easy” – Chilumba.
“A very difficult game, I think we have done well so far, five games in a row without a loss. I think our target is to finish on a good note. But it’s a big bonus for the boys, winning away. Fatigue is still there but we still need to fight and finish on a good note, “Chilumba said.
Additionally, the players’ level of fitness has impressed the former Kabwe Warriors trainer.
“The fitness levels of the boys are excellent, we are still preparing, facing Zanaco won’t be an easy game,” concluded the coach.
On Saturday, Mufulira Wanderers will play Zanaco in their upcoming Super League match at Shinde Stadium.
