Napsa Stars Football Club held league leaders Zesco United to a 0-0 draw in a week eight match at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Their coach, Sipho Mumbi, is confident they will come back stronger.
Despite numerous chances, the pensioners were unable to convert them. Napsa now has 20 points and ranks 13th, with four wins, seven draws, and seven losses.
The team will take a break and regroup for the second half of the season, hoping to come back stronger. After the game, Mumbi praised his players for keeping Zesco at bay in their backyard.
“Not a bad result considering the fact that we were playing a Zesco team that is on the high end in terms of their position on the log, and I think we did very well and am happy with the draw, though we wanted to collect maximum points,” said Mumbi.
As the team prepares for a break, Mumbi hopes to add one or two players to strengthen his squad.
“Our focus now is just to make amends with where we saw that we are not doing well, hoping that we can add one or two players. More especially upfront, just to come and help with what we have currently,” added Mumbi.
The pensioners will return to action on January 11th against Athletico Lusaka in a Week 19 fixture.
