Geoffrey Hamakwenda, the head coach of Mines United, believes that early preparations will be crucial for maintaining their position in the MTN Super League following their first-time promotion to the elite league.

The Kabwe side, along with Konkola Blades, Kansanshi Dynamos, and Prison Leopards, all earned promotion to the MTN Super League.

Mines, who were playing their first season in the ZPL National League, have now advanced to the elite league.

In a post-match reaction, Hamakwenda stated that Mines United’s continuation in the league will rely on their preparation for the upcoming season.

He also mentioned that the coaching staff will prioritize preparing for the upcoming season due to the high level of competition in the Super League.

“I believe we just have to start planning as early as possible because the National League and the Super League are two different divisions, but with good planning I think we will be able to sustain our stay in the league,” Hamakwenda said.

Hamakwenda also shared his motivational message with the players when he assumed the role of head coach in Week Six.

“When I just came, my first message was, ‘We have only played five games, lost four and drew one. I told them I have come here not to fail but to win promotion to the Super League. If anyone is not ready to be promoted to the Super League, they should go out,’ so they received that message with both hands, and they performed.”
