He noted that the team must aim higher to achieve success both at home and on the continental stage.

“This season, the target is clear — we want to go as far as possible in the CAF Confederation Cup, and that means getting into the group stage,” said Simukonda.

He added that the new season presents an opportunity to build on last year’s progress and challenge for silverware across all competitions.

Meanwhile, striker Pascal Phiri, who was receive considerable game time in the just-ended season and scored one goal, says he is aiming for a stronger personal campaign, with more appearances and goals on the horizon.

“Last season was about learning and adapting,” Phiri said. “This time, I want to do more for the team and score more goals. Last season I didn’t score more goals, but goals will come.”

Zesco United’s 2025–26 League campaign will begin on August 17 at home against Bestone Chambeshi’s Konkola Blades.
