Chipolopolo goalkeeper Francis Mwansa is expected to part ways with Green Buffaloes at the end of the 2024/25 Super League season, BolaNews understands.
Mwansa, who joined the Army-sponsored side in 2023 from Trident FC, will see his contract expire at the end of the current campaign and may not be renewed.
It’s been a challenging season for both Mwansa and Green Buffaloes, with the club struggling for consistency and form
Mwansa rose to national prominence after making his senior debut for the Chipolopolo at the 2023 COSAFA Championship. He played a key role in Zambia’s victory over South Africa and their progression to the final, where they clinched a record seventh title with a 1-0 win over Lesotho.
BolaNews sources have revealed that Chipolopolo goalkeeper Francis Mwansa is likely to leave Green Buffaloes at the end of the season, although a final decision has yet to be made.
“Mwansa is likely to leave, but the teams that are chasing after his signature have not yet confirmed. He has not yet made a decision; he will be waiting for the season to come to an end,” the source said.
When contacted for comment, Mwansa confirmed there is interest from other clubs but emphasized that no decision has been made yet. For now, his focus remains on finishing the season with Green Buffaloes.
“My manager just told me that there are some teams that are interested in signing me, but he did not tell me the names of the clubs. But I am concentrating on Green Buffaloes, and then when the season is done, that’s when a decision will be made. I will just make my final decision when the season comes to an end,” Mwansa said.
