Nkwazi Football Club is set to host a rejuvenated Nkana side in their Week 19 fixture at Edwin Imboela Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
Nkwazi head into this match seeking redemption after playing out to a goalless draw against Green Buffaloes last weekend.
As for the visitors, they will be looking to extend their winning momentum, as they appear to have bounced back to winning ways. Nkana are highly motivated, having recorded four consecutive wins in their last four matches.
The 13-time champions beat FC Leopards in their previous fixture, but Nkwazi head coach Masauso Tembo declared his team ready for the encounter, stating that “We have prepared well coming from a draw against Buffaloes. We didn’t rest; we trained on Sunday, and on Monday we had our last session, which was planning for the game.”
“We know what Nkana can do; they have done well. Consistency is there. Nkana is one of the big teams with a huge fanbase, and they motivate the team. We know all about that. We have psyched the team; we will see what happens,” added Tembo.
As for Nkana coach Mwenya Chipepo, “The four wins in a row have been through hard work. It wasn’t easy, but our supporters believed in us and supported us until we started winning,” he said.
He believes that his upcoming matches will be difficult; “even if the teams [Nkwazi] are not doing well, that makes the game even tougher. But we have prepared a very good side, and we are ready to pick up three points.”
Nkwazi are sitting in 14th in the standings with 18 points from 18 matches, while Nkana are 12th with 22 points from the same number of games.
The last meeting between Nkana and Nkwazi ended in a 1-1 draw in Kitwe.
