Red Arrows Football Club, the current Zambian Super League log leaders, are six points away from winning their third title.
The Airmen and the Green Buffaloes drew 0-0 on Sunday at Edwin Imboela Stadium.
The Airmen have 61 points from 29 matches played so far.
Arrows have been dominant, with an impressive record of 18 wins, 7 draws, and four defeats from 28 matches played so far.
The Airmen have managed to score 42 goals and concede 15 goals.
However, in the remaining five matches, Arrows only need to win two games to be crowned Champions of the 2023–24 Super League.
Speaking to journalists after Sunday’s match, head coach Chisi Mbewe said the result against the Buffaloes was fair for the team.
“Coming to the result, I think it was a fair result. We knew it was not going to be easy playing buffaloes here at Imboela Stadium and again, we wanted to play a passing game, which made it difficult for us to play, but with a fair result, we have not dropped all the points,” he said.
The Arrows boss hopes the team can return to winning ways to relieve pressure at the top of the league table.
“It’s a positive result and we thank God that even the teams behind us have drawn, which is a good thing for us.
“But the most important thing for us is just to make sure that we come back to our winning ways so that we continue moving forward,” Mbewe noted.
Arrows will face Nchanga Rangers in the 2024 ABSA Cup semifinals on Saturday.
