Red Arrows Football Club head coach Chisi Mbewe has bemoaned the lack of finishing touch from his strikers following a goalless draw against Lumwana Radiants Football Club at Nkoloma Stadium.
The Airmen failed to recover from a 3-1 defeat as they played to a frustrating draw in a rescheduled Week 5 Super League match against the Uranium Boys, who were coming off an impressive 2-1 win over bottom-placed side Indeni FC.
Both teams struggled to create meaningful chances, with Arrows looking the better side to find the back of the net.
Lumwana were comfortable playing just inside their area and were wasteful going forward, and they failed to have a pinpoint cross or shot to threaten the hosts.
Chisi Mbewe reacts
Reacting to the result, Mbewe noted that the striking force has been flat in the recent matches, and there is a need to relook at their strategy going into the next matches.
“We knew it was going to be a tough game; we didn’t play our game. In the first half we struggle to circulate the ball and to create chances. I think after we made some changes we looked better; we created chances, but unfortunately we couldn’t be clinical,” he said.
“I think in the final third we just have to improve; we are creating chances; we just have to be clinical at goal. It is a source of worry because if you’re not scoring, you can’t win the game, but I think it is something that we just need to work on and make sure we improve.”
Mbewe adds that their technical bench will work on the striking force so that it can start scoring in order for them to defend their titles.
“I think for us to win the titles, the league, and to win games we need to be scoring goals; we just need to encourage the strikers to start scoring goals,” he concluded.
The defending champions will this Sunday take on log leaders Zesco United, who are unbeaten so far, in a Week 7 Super League match at Nkoloma Stadium.
