Red Arrows assistant coach Kalilo kakonje says his team is on course to defending the League this season, despite the tough competition in the Zambian Super League.
The former Chipolopolo goalkeeper said, he was happy with his team’s 1-0 victory over Green Buffaloes on Saturday which saw them end their military rivals’ unbeaten run in a week 7 fixture played at Nkoloma Stadium.
Kakonje says it was an exciting victory especially since the team played was a good side that had not lost a game.
He added that , Arrows have continued improving and played better than they played in the prevous match against Buildcon.
“Am really happy with the boy’s performance , the victory was a big boost going forward, we defended very well and made sure our opponents did not get a goal.
“Our possession was better we did not lose a lot of balls, our defense was more organized which is a big improvement for the team,” he said.
Kakonje also believes lack of concentration and poor decision making has remained a concern in the defending Champions’ team.
“Though the problem we are having is concentration and decision making, we are creating a lot of chances but its something that we have been working on in training, looking at our conversion rate and how much we are conceding goals those are the two aspects we worked on in training and am happy today we came out with a clean sheet.”
The Airmen who were without their head coach Chisi Mbewe who is away on national duty with the Zambian under-20 national team in Eswatini will now shift focus on their next game against Chambishi as they look to top the league.
They are currently sitting second on the table with 14 points below leaders Prison Leopards who are topping with 15 points.
