Former champions Power Dynamos have bounced back from last week’s defeat to Zeaco United, beating Napsa Stars 3 – 1 at Arthur Davies Stadium.
The weight of Zesco’s defeat pushed Power from first to fourth on the table but thanks to Dominic Chanda, Brian Masanyinga and Austin Muwowo they are on the ascendancy once again.
Chanda open the scoring in the at the stroke of half time when he landed on a poorly cleared ball by Napsa defenders from an Aaron Katebe header.
On the day they were welcoming their former captain Rally Bwalya, Power were intent to make the Chipolopolo midfielder miss Arthur Davies, a place he once called home.
One turned into two in 66th minute when Masanyinga powered home from close range to hand the home side a two goal advantage.
However, that advantage was reduced to one in the 74th minute through Mathews Tolopa to set up a nervy last 15 minutes.
However, the home side put the result to bed through a well taken drive from Muwowo in the 89th minute.
Power are third with 25 points, two behind leaders Zesco United to played to a scoreless draw against FC MUZA.
Zanaco end Chipepo’s unbeaten run
Nkana’s unbeaten run under Mwenya Chipepo came to an end at Sunset stadium on Wednesday when they suffered a 1-0 loss to Zanaco.
The Bankers scored through Ariana Lambert in the 55th minute and it was enough for them to secure their first win in ten matches.
Before Wednesday’s match, the Kitwe side were on a four game winning streak under new coach Mwenya Chipepo.
