In a rescheduled Week 22 fixture, Nkwazi registered a 1-nil away win over Konkola Blades at Konkola stadium on Saturday.
Nkwazi grabbed a win after going six matches without a victory, recording three draws and three defeats.
Substitute Billy Ntumba scored the only goal for High Flying Nkwazi in the 75th minute to give the visitors a resounding victory.
However, the victory still leaves Nkwazi stuck in the relegation zone with 24 points from 26 matches played.
Reacting to the result, Nkwazi assistant coach Keegan Phiri said;
“First of all, we thank God for the result; it has been long coming. We played a very disciplined game. Kudos to Konkola; they play very well, but today I think we did our homework, and we scored, and we knew that these three points were going to be very, very important,”
“We have told the boys that every game from now on is a cup final, very important. We are playing the champions, current log leaders; it’s going to be even much more difficult. It will require a great effort from the team, even bigger than the one we have applied here. So it’s going to be a difficult game, but we need the three points for us to survive,” Phiri.
Up next for Nkwazi, is a crucial fixture against league defending champions, Power Dynamos at Edwin Imboela Stadium.
