Perry Mutapa, Napsa stars part ways

Mutapa will no longer be Napsa Stars FC's head coach after three seasons at the Lusaka-based club.

NAPSA Stars Football Club has announced that it has parted ways with head coach Perry Mutapa following a review of the 2023-2024 season.

According to a club statement, Mutapa, goalkeeper coach Yusuf Lumu Mwanza, and team manager Chizengu Lukama were all let go as a result of the review.

“NAPSA Stars Football Club extends its appreciation to the departing officials for their dedication and contributions during their tenure. We wish them success in their future endeavours,” read the club statement in part.

Mutapa took over Napsa Stars ahead of the 2021/22 MTN Super League season, following the club’s relegation to the National Division One League.

He went on to lead the team back to the top flight the same season, winning the ABSA Cup after defeating the Red Arrows 1-0 in the final.

Mutapa is leaving the club after finishing the 2023–2024 season in 14th place.

The club is now expected to announce its next coach ahead of the 2024–25 season, which kicks off in August.
