Shapi Shachinda, president of Nchanga Rangers Football Club, has revealed that the club’s executive is working to improve conditions for their women’s team, the Nchanga Queens who have just been promoted to the FAZ Women’s Super League.

When addressing the players last Friday, Shachinda stated that the club’s executive is aware of the difficulties they faced in their quest to gain promotion to the Women’s Super League.

“We talked to KCM to help with logistics to help you play without difficulties,” he revealed. “We are going to sit down so that we can talk about the future without difficulties. The men’s, youth teams, and women’s teams will also be dressed uniformly.”

Shachinda added, “I looked at the table, and I was amazed by the amount of results you were able to grind out under difficult circumstances. Sometimes we were helping as Nchanga Rangers, sometimes KCM was chipping, but I want to assure you that the future is bright.”

Players told to pursue education, refrain from drugs and report sexual abuse cases

Shachinda also emphasized the importance of the players obtaining an education while pursuing their football careers.

“I can see that many of you are still in school; this is something I want to encourage, playing football and with some level of education. We want you to attain a certain level of football because football has short legs, you might be injured, and your career ends,” he said.

The club president also warned players about prohibited drugs and urged them to report any incidents of sexual abuse.

“Drug abuse is not allowed in sports; we have players who can’t play in Zambia and who can’t play at the top level due to drug abuse,” he stated.

“Also, I’m not shy about talking about serious things that happen; whenever there are girls, sometimes they are abused. No one should come to you and manipulate you because of the position they have. Not a single day should someone come to you and tell you to do something for you to be involved in this and that. There are ways you can report these things; if punishment needs to be taken, it will be taken. Please don’t get me wrong; this is just advice.”
