Power Dynamos emerged as the biggest winners at the 2024/25 MTN Super League Awards held in Kitwe on Friday night, with five accolades going to the Kitwe-based club, including the coveted Player of the Season award won by midfielder Owen Tembo.
Tembo’s consistent performances and leadership in the defensive midfield role were instrumental in Power Dynamos’ title winning season, and he was rightly recognized as the standout player of the campaign. His coach Oswald Mutapa was also named Coach of the Season after guiding Power Dynamos to their eighth league title.
In the goalkeeping department, Willard Mwanza secured the Golden Glove for his outstanding shot-stopping throughout the season, having kept 12 cleansheets in 20 games, beating Nkwazi FC’s Lukas Mainz and Zesco United’s Toaster Nsabata.
Another Power Dynamos player, Frederick Mulambia, earned the Most Disciplined Player award ahead of Red Arrows’ James Chamanga and Green Buffaloes defender Chilimba Moonga.
Meanwhile, Zesco United’s youngster David Simunkonda was named Young Player of the Season while Francis Mwamba of Kabwe Warriors won the Fans’ Player of the Season.
Off the pitch, the awards also recognized excellence in media and officiating:
- Shombo International, a Power Dynamos diehard fan was crowned Fan of the Season.
- Hillary Hambaba and Nancy Kasitu won Referee of the Season and Assistant Referee of the Season, respectively.
- In journalism, Michael Miyoba (Print), Puncherello Chama (Radio), and Kelvin Mutale (Digital) took top honors.
- NAPSA Stars were awarded Club Media Team of the Year for their exemplary communication and fan engagement.
