Power Dynamos’ head coach, Oswald Mutapa, believes the Kitwe-based team needs to bolster their squad for the upcoming season to challenge for the Zambian Super League title next season.
In the just concluded 2023–24 Super League season, which was won by Red Arrows, who also won the ABSA Cup, a record double for the airmen, Dynamos finished the season empty-handed and missed out on continental football.
Aba Yellow ended up in third place in the league standings with 56 points after playing to a 1-1 draw with NAPSA Stars.
Mutapa joined Power Dynamos at the start of the second round from Nkwazi Football Club, and this was his first season with them.
When Mutapa took over as head coach, his targets were to win the ABSA Cup, secure continental football, and assist the squad in defending the league title.
Speaking to journalists after the match, Mutapa said the team will bring in a few players to beef up the current squad.
“Although we haven’t received anything, I believe we have the players, so certainly, we will organize and reinforce. We’ll work to strengthen the weakest parts, and hopefully we’ll be alright,” he remarked.
Mutapa continued, “I think that will be enough, but we will need maybe more than five or six players. We’ll try to get some from the youth team.”
