Nkana, the Zambian Super League giants, have announced the appointment of Nkwazi trainer Dennis Makinka as their assistant coach, filling the void left by Sipho Mumbi’s departure to Napsa Stars.
Makinka was promoted to head coach last season at Nkwazi, succeeding Oswald Mutapa, who had moved to Power Dynamos.
Having helped Nkwazi finish sixth, it was expected that he would lead the team in the coming season, but his decision to leave has surprised the club’s hierarchy.
“We are delighted to announce the appointment of Coach Dennis Makinka as the new Assistant Coach with immediate effect. Coach Makinka joins Nkana Football Club from Nkwanzi Football Club, where he served as the Head Coach, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to our coaching staff,” announced Nkana in a statement on Friday.
Nkana finished ninth last season with 43 points and will be looking to add a 14th title to their trophy cabinet in the upcoming season.
