Kabwe Warriors head coach Numba Mumamba says the team plans to strengthen its squad during the January transfer window as they plan to challenge for the ABSA Cup and league title.
Warriors defeated Trident 1-0 on Wednesday afternoon at Shinde Stadium in a week-19 match.
Matthews Tolopa gave the Warriors the lead in the 36th minute, his second goal of the season for the Kabwe-based club.
The Warriors returned to the top four, tied with the Power Dynamos on 32 points but separated by goal difference.
After the game, Mumamba expressed confidence that the team will look to maintain its winning ways.
“We are back to winning ways. I think before we go on the break, we want to finish on a good note, winning the remainder of the games before we go on a break.”
Numba wants a striker
The former midfielder expressed concern about the team’s striking force and wants to reinforce it in the transfer window.
“We need to improve on our finishing in the second round and improve on our striking department because that is where we have been lacking in the first round of the season.
“We have been creating numerous chances in almost every game, but our finishing has let us down in the first round.”
He added: “We only need two central defenders and one striker so that we can beef up the team, which is where we have a crisis. We are still looking around, and I’m sure by next week we should be able to make headway,” he said.
