Nkwazi Football Club head coach Keegan Phiri believes his side is showing signs of improvement despite failing to register a win in the 2025-26 Super League season.
Phiri’s team has endured a slow start, collecting just three points from a possible 12 in their opening four matches. Nkwazi currently sits 13th on the log, with three draws and one defeat.
On Sunday afternoon, Nkwazi played out a 1-1 draw against Zanaco at Sunset Stadium.
Pressure is beginning to mount on Phiri, who is still searching for his first victory of the campaign. However, the coach remains optimistic that his players will soon start collecting maximum points.
“The pressure you know this thing the way it is, it is tough so obviously getting three points from a possible twelve is not what we planned, but this is football, I can see the team improving in each game, we lost the first game, drew and drew then this one we have drawn again,” Phiri told journalists.
“I believe and stay positive that we are going to win our next assignment,” he added.
Reflecting on the Zanaco match, Phiri said: “The game was fair it was a tough game, Zanaco is a big club they applied themselves very well, but I feel in moments we had a upper hand, we started the second half a bit low than we had initially planned. We dropped our defensive line a bit too low and that really cost us.”
Meanwhile, Nkwazi will face Konkola Blades in their next Super League fixture.
