Nkwazi Football Club head coach Masauso Tembo believes there is still a chance for his team to fight and avoid relegation in the upcoming fixtures.
Nkwazi boosted their survival hopes after beating Napsa Stars 2-1 in their Week 28 fixture played at Edwin Imboela on Wednesday afternoon.
Carlos Kaoma’s goal in the fifth minute and Adrian Chama’s header in the 70th minute gave the home side a crucial victory.
The win lifted Nkwazi out of the relegation zone, as they now sit in 14th place with 30 points.
However, the relegation battle is intensifying, with most teams in the lower half fighting to avoid being demoted to the National League.
Speaking in an interview, Nkwazi head coach Masauso Tembo expressed satisfaction with the team’s result.
“It’s a good result, three points. I think we haven’t done well at home; it’s been a long time since we won at home, and the talk we had – if we look at the position we are at in the league, it’s not a very good position. I talked to the boys, and I’m happy with the win,” he said.
“It’s not yet over; we still have a lot of work to do. I have to talk to my players to have the right attitude; we continue with the right attitude. I am very happy to see Command coming to support us; they just have to motivate us more. We really have to fight; it’s not yet over,” added Tembo.
Meanwhile, Nkwazi will shift attention to their next match, where they will host Power Dynamos.
