Newly promoted MTN Super League side Nchanga Rangers returned in style, defeating FC Muza 3-0 in the first match of the 2024–25 season.
Maxwell Mulutula opened the scoring in the sixth minute, and Elliott Kampukesa added a second in the 63rd minute, before Laurent Mwanza made it three in the 75th minute through a penalty kick to give Nchanga a commanding lead.
Nchanga’s head coach Robert Tembo was happy with his team’s performance but warned his players against complacency.
“It was a very good, sweet victory we played at home, and beating a team like FC Muza by 3-0 is a good start,” he said. “So far, being the first game, I can see that they are really adapting….. And I am assured that going forward they will play better.
“My message to the boys is that they should not grow wings. This is just the first game that we have played. We have many more games to go so this game is gone. We have to remain focused and keep on working hard for sure.”
Tembo anticipates a difficult match against Kabwe Warriors next weekend. He, however, promises to work on some of the mistakes noted from the previous game.
“For sure, it will be a tough game playing against Kabwe Warriors. We will go back to the drawing board and work on our errors.”
