During the mid-season break of the Zambian super league, Nchanga Rangers hired Aggrey Chiyangi, after the Chingola based side parted ways with Robert Tembo.

Chiyangi signed a two-year contract with an option to extend it at the end of his tenure, with a task to revive the team’s performance.

However, a string of poor results that has seen Nchanga, fighting relegation, lead to the termination of his contract and that of his assistant, Roston Kilambe.

A 3-1 home loss to Zesco United, vying for continental football, over the weekend, decided the fate of the two coaches. The defeat left them a point above the relegation zone with only two games to go before the end of the season.

Club vice president, Shapi Shachinda, said that they have mutually separated with the two coaches in the interest of the club.

“We agreed with the two coaches that the right thing to do in the interest of the club is to separate mutually.” he wrote in a press statement. He also thanked the two coaches for their contribution to the club and wished them well in their future endeavors.

In the meanwhile, the club has since named second assistant coach Ronald Mukosha as temporary head coach.

Additionally, Michael Mwape and goalkeeper trainer Mutambi Mtonga will assist him throughout this transitional period. Due to his subpar performance earlier this season, Chiyangi was also sacked by Green Eagles before joining Nchanga Rangers.
