It was another tough outing for Nkana and coach Mwenya Chipepo as a second-half goal from Simon Nkhata secured all three points for Napsa Stars in a 1-0 victory at Nkana Stadium on Saturday.
At REIZ Arena during the first half of the 2024-25 season, Nkana then coached by Ian Bakala were 0-1 victors over NAPSA Stars.
The result marked a second consecutive defeat for the Kitwe giants, following last weekend’s 2-0 loss to Zesco United in Ndola.
Speaking after the game, a visibly frustrated Chipepo expressed his disappointment with his side’s poor run of form.
“Disappointed again, second loss in a row. We’re not very happy. It’s a sad moment losing at home. A big crowd came to support us, but we have disappointed them,” he admitted.
Despite creating chances, the team failed to find the back of the net, something Chipepo lamented after the final whistle.
“The game is all about scoring. We created some chances, but we couldn’t convert,” he said.
The coach also criticized his players for their lack of composure in front of goal, highlighting the difference in clinical finishing between the two sides.
“They had a chance, and they scored. We created a lot of chances but lacked composure. We could have scored many, but this is our job,” Chipepo concluded.
The defeat piles pressure on Nkana, who will need to bounce back quickly to get their season back on track. Meanwhile, Napsa Stars will be buoyed by their efficient display away from home.
