This weekend’s pick of the ties has failed to produce a win with Red Arrows coming from behind to hold leaders Kabwe Warriors 1 – all at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.
Warriors were aiming to open a 3 – point lead before Zesco United take to the pitch against Green Eagles but all they could do was to have a 1-point cushion.
After playing to a goalless first half, Warriors, who have been on song despite the sudden departure of Mumamba Numba took the lead in the second half through Francis Banda on the hour mark.
At this stage of the game, Warriors were enjoying a 3-point lead and were on course to hand Arrows their first home defeat since December 16, 2023.
Arrows have been impressive at home since their 2-1 loss to Green Eagles back in 2023. Before this game, they had 14 wins and four draws in 18 matches played at home.
Fearing that their good home run was about to be dented, the defending champions turned the heat of Warriors and were paid for their efforts when Angel Lubamba drew level in the 70th minute.
No team took initiative for the killer in the last 20 minutes, thus ending up to settle for a draw.
Nkana Register Back-To-Back Defeats.
Warriors, although they have maintained their place at the summit will feel disappointed at the failure to maximize points. Should Zesco beat Eagles on Sunday, the five – time champions will be relegated to second.
At Nkana Stadium, the record title holder registered a second straight defeat with Simon Nkhata scoring the only goal of the day for Napsa Stars.
When the game looked like it will end in a stalemate, Nkana ‘dosed’ off allowing Nkhata to elude defenders and turn in a pass from the right.
It was Nkana’s first home defeat in five matches.
In Ndola, former Champions Power Dynamos settled for a scoreless draw against Forest Rangers while Indeni MUZA left it late to beat MUZA 1-0
