George Chilufya will lead Mutondo Stars in the new season following the departure of Zeddy Saileti, club president Everisto Kabila has confirmed.
Chilufya, formerly of Nkana, Power Dynamos and Green Eagles was last season added to the Mutondo setup as technical advisor to Saileti.
Saileti, a former Chipolopolo international is credited for having promoted Mutondo from the provincial league right up to the Super League.
However, after guaranteeing safety last season, Saileti left the club for Kansanshi who he will be hoping to help promote to the Super League.
Kabila said at an end of the season dinner in Kitwe that the club has settle for Chilufya as the coach and will be assisted by Stephen Mwansa.
“The head coach is Mr George Chilufya,” Kabila said. “We woud like the team to be competitive in the upcoming season, the target is to win some.
“We are determined to leave no stone unturned in our quest to make sure that Mutondo Stars reach new heights. As Mutondo stars We want to establish our club as a dominant force.”
Kabila said the main objective for Chilufya and his technical bench will be to maintain the club’s stay in the Super League.
Meanwhile, Chilufya said he is delighted with the appointment.
“I am so happy to be the coach, thank you for trusting me. I cannot promise much but we will do our best to make sure that we keep improving as a team,” Chilufya said.
