Zambian striker Moses Phiri has promised to help Power Dynamo defend their league title this season.

Phiri was unveiled last week on a short-term loan deal from Tanzanian giants Simba SC.

Before joining Simba SC, Phiri was with Zanaco and scored 14 goals, finishing as the second-top scorer in the Zambian Super League, just two goals behind Ricky Banda, who scooped the Golden Boot with 16 goals in the 2022–22 season.

The 30-year-old striker was crowned top scorer during the 2020–21 season with 17 goals, helping Zanaco qualify for continental football.

Speaking to Power Dynamos media, Moses said he decided to join Aba Yellow to help them defend the league title.

“I’m very happy and seeing familiar faces gives me more morale. It’s like family to me because most of the players we have been together at the national team,” said Phiri.

He added, “The reason I came to Power Dynamos is because they play good football and they are not a small team. Looking at the task they have, I just decided that I join these guys so that at least we can fight together to return the championship. I will work hard so that we win the league again.”

Power Dynamos is currently sitting third in the league standings with 33 points from 22 matches played so far.
