Zesco United’s match with Red Arrows at home is possibly the biggest Super League match of the weekend since it pits the league leaders against the reigning champions.
Getting something out of this game will help Arrows convince their skeptics that they are still serious about keeping the championship, since they have been erratic in their attempts to protect it.
Zesco are top with 43 points, seven better than Arrows who are fourth. Should the Airmen lose the gap will stretch to 10 points in as many games left before the end of the season.
Form Guide
If you have been in the game for a long time, you will know that in such big games, form is usually thrown out of the window. It is usually about who decides to turn up on the day.
However, for the benefit of those that enjoy reading numbers, we will throw them in their face.
It will surprise you that Arrows’ sheet reads better than that of Zesco in that the defending champions have managed 20 points from a possible 30, in their last 10 games. That’s two better than Zesco in the same period.
The defending champions will also count themselves as favourites going into the game in that they beat Zesco 2 – 0 in the first round with goals from Michee Malonga and Angel Lubamba.
Zesco’s biggest consolation is that they come into this game on the back of a win. While Arrows drew theirs with struggling Mutondo Stars.
Head To Head.
Since 2022, the two teams have met five times. Arrows have a slight edge having won three, two better than Zesco.
Should Zesco win, it will be their first victory over Arrows since 2023.
Betting Tip
You have to go as far back as 2021 to find a situation when this fixture last produced a Both Teams To Score (BTTS) scoreline, we don’t expect that to change today.
