On Saturday, FC MUZA will play Nkana in their Week 17 match in Kitwe, hoping to give head coach Mwenya Chipepo his second loss since taking over at Nkana Stadium.
Nkwazi held FC MUZA to a scoreless draw at their home pitch in Mazabuka last weekend, while Nkana is fresh off a 1-2 derby victory over rival Power Dynamos.
Under Chipepo, Nkana has been dominant at home, winning all three games in front of their supporters at Nkana Stadium.
Chipepo has registered six wins in his seven games as coach; the only setback was a 1-0 loss to Zanaco on the road.
Lameck Banda, the head coach of FC MUZA, is still hopeful about beating the odds on Saturday. Despite the intimidating task of taking on Nkana at their stronghold, Banda is sure his team can collect full points.
“We are going there with the winning mentality of beating Nkana at their backyard,” said Banda.
MUZA’s away form this season has been inconsistent, with just two wins on the road. Securing a victory at Nkana Stadium, backed by one of the league’s most passionate fan bases, will require Banda’s side to be at their absolute best.
The coach insists his team can turn Nkana’s home advantage to their benefit.
“We are not intimidated. Nkana have a huge fan base, but we will use that to our advantage. We’ll turn it around and take it as if they are supporting us,” he stated.
Banda has also urged his players to give their all while enjoying the occasion.
“For the players, it’s just to go there and enjoy themselves. We need everyone to put in 100-plus percent so that we get maximum points,” Banda added.
