After his team lost 1-0 to the Green Buffaloes in Saturday’s Zambian Premier League Week 22 encounter at Nkoloma Stadium, head coach Brian Kunsanama laments the number of scoring opportunities lost.

In the 2024–25 season, the Bad Boys lost for the third time in a row, dropping to 12th place with 25 points.

Speaking following the game, Kunsanama said his team had a lot of chances to win but lacked patience in the last third.

In order for their possessive football to result in goals, he has admitted that the hitting department needs improvement.

“I think praises should go to the boys; they put up a good show today. Unfortunately, the good side of our Atletico Lusaka couldn’t give us goals. I think that is the most painful thing about it because it’s a game that everything was on our side,” Kunsanama said. “The football itself was on our side. We couldn’t put the ball in the net.”

“We have to stay in the ZPL” – Kunsanama.

He added, “In the final third, I think we need to improve in terms of having a little bit of patience because in today’s game, I think it’s a game that we could have scored about 3 or 4 goals. We had clear chances that the boys couldn’t put in the back of the net.”

The ability to create chances will eventually translate into goals, so Kunsanama is not concerned about the missed opportunities.

“It would be a worrying thing if you’re not creating chances. But if you’re creating chances in football, then eventually you start scoring,” he said.

In order to get a competitive edge, the coach has also reaffirmed that Atletico Lusaka aims to fight in the top division while also focusing on player development.

“Despite having the objective of developing more players, we’ll have to stay in the Premier League because that’s where I want to develop these players. That’s where it’s easier to develop the players because that’s where the competition is. So, we just keep on pushing them. The chances will come, and eventually, the goals will come, and the results will come,” he concluded.
