MTN Super League side Zanaco FC has confirmed the return of midfielder Kelvin Kapumbu on a one-year, nine-month deal.

The move follows Kapumbu’s recent departure from Israeli National League side Hapoel Petach Tikva, where his contract was terminated just two months into a one-year deal for undisclosed reasons.

This will be Kapumbu’s third stint with Zanaco. Between 2015 and 2017, he played for the Bankers before briefly joining Lumwana Radiants. He returned to Zanaco a year later until 2022, when he joined Zesco United.

He signed with Hapoel Petach Tikva in July of this year, but things didn’t work out in Israel.

Zanaco announced the midfielder’s return on Wednesday through their social media channels.

“Welcome back home, Kapumbu!” the club posted. “We are thrilled to announce that midfielder Kelvin Kapumbu is returning to Zanaco FC as a free agent, signing a one-year and nine-month deal.”

Zanaco, who have had mixed results under coach Wedson Nyirenda, hope Kapumbu’s experience will bolster the squad.

“We are excited to have him back on our team after his time with Zesco in 2022 and a stint in Israel. His skills and experience will undoubtedly strengthen our squad.”
