Red Arrows forward Albert Kangwanda, who played an instrumental role in guiding the Airmen to a second-place finish in the MTN Super League and ABSA Cup triumph, has reflected on the just-ended season.

With an impressive return of 17 goals and eight assists across all competitions, there is no doubt that the Kafue Celtics product was at the peak of his powers during the campaign.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Bolanews, Kangwanda highlighted both the highs and lows of the season.

“It was an amazing season; we set targets for this season, and we managed to achieve some of our targets. We only failed to win the league, but we won the ABSA Cup and qualified for African football.”

Kangwanda further added: “Even as we break, hopefully we’ll come back and be ready for the league and African football (CAF Confederation Cup).”

When asked about what it would take for Red Arrows to progress beyond the preliminary stages, Kangwanda expressed optimism and stressed the importance of belief within the squad.

“It’s just belief, and I think it’s just belief and when you work hard as a team.”

He further added: “Football is played the same way everywhere, so whether you are playing a team from East Africa, Southern Africa, it has the same rules.

“We just have to believe, stay focused and keep working hard and if you are better than the other team you will obviously win it.”

While Zambian clubs have often struggled to make a significant impact on the continental stage, Red Arrows will be eager to change the narrative when they compete in the tournament next season.
