Trident Football Club head coach Albert Kachinga says his side will take advantage of Green Eagles’ lacklustre performance to collect maximum points at Choma’s Independence Stadium.
The Conquerors are coming off a 1-all away draw against Forest Rangers, while Green Eagles, whose head coach Alex Namazaba has a 3-match ultimatum, suffered a 2-0 setback against Green Buffaloes in Lusaka.
Trident are still searching for an elusive win after eight rounds of matches in the Super League. They have yet to win since gaining promotion.
Kachinga tells BolaNews that it will not be an easy match but Eagles’ inconsistency gives his determined side a chance to possibly clinch their first win of the season.
“It is not going to be easy,” he said. “We need to fight for a good result and I think the boys are equal to the task.
“I have seen in training that the team has the desire to get results, though Green Eagles will come with all guns blazing knowing that they have not performed very well.”
Kachinga believes that Green Eagles’ intention to get back to winning ways may just expose them and give an opportunity to the Conquerors to pounce.
“I think we shall take advantage of Green Eagles’ performance, which has not been as expected but also considering that we have not been doing so well as a team,” the gaffer said.
“The last two weeks that I have been with the team, there is something that we are doing right. We will go flat out and get a good result.”
Kachinga to psych his players as he promotes 16-year-old midfielder
Kachinga, who joined the Trident FC technical bench alongside Joseph Musonda two weeks ago, said his team needs to be psyched and physically conditioned to start winning matches.
“We need to work on their belief and confidence so that they can believe that they can contain the pressure in the Super League. That is the most important thing,” he notes.
“We have good players but I think they were lacking in one or two areas. We are getting somewhere. The players just need good conditioning and psyching.”
Kachinga has also promoted 16-year-old midfielder Tony Luwi Chilengi to the senior team from Young Trident to enhance competition and infuse energy into the squad.
Chilengi, who was an unused substitute in last weekend’s 1-1 draw against Forest Rangers, is part of the squad that has travelled to Choma for the Week 9 fixture.
“I have had this policy from way back; we have to realize that the future lies in the youngsters because there is a lot of energy and competition they bring.”
