When Numba Mumamba returned to Railways Stadium, his former side, Kabwe Warriors defeated Zanaco 1-0, giving them the victory.
There is bad blood between Numba and Warriors owing to the way he left the Magnificent side to join Zanaco recently.
The ‘beef’ was intensified after Warriors refused to issue Numba’s clearance and reported Numba to the FAZ player status commitee for breach of contract.
On Saturday, he was hoping to get one over his former team albeit from the stands but the home side were at their usual best, seeing off Zanaco via a narrow win.
After the first half ended without a goal, midfielder Chaniza Zulu’s second yellow card put Zanaco at a disadvantage.
Warriors took advantage in the 86th minute and went ahead thanks to a Simon Tonga goal.
The defeat leaves Zanaco second from bottom with 23 points, while Warriors are second with 44, two behind leaders Zesco United who beat Red Arrows 1-0 at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola via a Pascal Phiri 54th minute goal.
In other games, MUZA and Green Buffaloes had the same outcome, with the latter prevailing, while Napsa Stars needed a goal from Jimmy Mukeya to defeat Mufulira Wanderers 1-0. Bonwell Mwape got the goal for under pressure coach Masauso Tembo’s Nyanta Boys.
At Edwin Imboela Stadium, Nkwazi beat Nchanga Rangers 2-1, Lumwana Radiants drew 1-all with Forest Rangers while Mutondo beat Indeni 2-1. Atletico Lusaka continued with their losing run, losing 2-0 to Power Dynamos.
