Kabwe Warriors will host Zesco United in a key midweek fixture on Wednesday at Railways Stadium in Kabwe, with both sides looking to keep their title hopes alive.
With just four games left in the 2024/25 MTN Super League season, Power Dynamos are now favourites for the title, leading the table by six points ahead of second-placed Zesco United.
Speaking ahead of the match, Kabwe Warriors head coach Albert Kachinga described the clash as a big game as he prepares to lead the team for his third league match since taking over.
Kachinga started his reign with a 2-0 win over Lumwana Radiants, followed by a 0-0 draw against Mutondo Stars. Over the weekend, he guided Warriors to a 2-0 victory over Makeni All Stars in the ABSA Cup, his second win as head coach.
“A big game for us and we look forward to it despite having few knocks here and there. Even players who come in, we believe will live to the expectation and we expect the best out of everyone who is in the team,” Kachinga said.
‘We are asking too much from the players‘ – Kachinga
Warriors are currently third on the log with 49 points, five behind Zesco United. Despite the recent win against Makeni All Stars providing a boost, Kachinga insists they are fully focused on the challenge ahead.
“That is great motivation but as it is, each game comes differently from the others. Of course it will be a different ball game altogether. Zesco is a big team, we give them a lot of respect, but we just have to compete.”
Kachinga also voiced concerns about the demanding schedule, with Warriors set to play their third match in just seven days.
“I think we are asking too much from the players and there has to be time for the body to recover. I think we have put a strain in most of the players, but I know that’s the name of the game. We cannot run away from it.”
Kick-off is set for 15:00 CAT at Railways Stadium.
