Jesse WERE opens up on his failure to score goals at Kansanshi Dynamos

"I am not under pressure to replicate my Zesco United scoring form at Kansanshi"

Kenyan striker Jessy Jackson WERE left Zesco United last season in January after spending five seasons at the Ndola-based side where he became the first foreign player to score over 100 goals in the Zambian Super League.

He join another Super League side, Kansanshi dynamos, however, the former United talisman has not replicated his goal-scoring prowess at the Solwezi-based side since joining them.

WERE has this season only scored one goal in fourteen games played.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with BolaNews, WERE said he is not under any pressure to replicate his Zesco United performance at Kansanshi Dynamos due to the different role he is assigned now.

” My target is to help the team achieve its main objectives of the season, and also improve on what I did last season,” he said. “But what’s important is the team spirit that we have anyone can score so it doesn’t matter who scores so long the team is in the right direction then everything is okay.”

“I have no pressure because at Kansanshi Dynamos they are more young players, and they are not that experienced but they are willing to play and learn, so each and every game we have different goal scorers, so for me, there is no pressure as long as the team is scoring and we are getting positive results, it doesn’t matter who scores,”

WERE who was last season the top scorer for Kansanshi Dynamos after scoring 6 goals, believes he can still score more goals as there are still many games to play in the Super League.

“But the goals haven’t dried out, it happens to every striker in the world,” he argued. “There is something that is called goal drought which is always there, but after I scored previously against Zanaco, I hope to continue but I am not under pressure because in our team everyone is delivering and doing their part.

The Kenyan striker last Thursday opened his scoring account for the Mabanga Boys this season when he found the back of the net in the 9th minute against Zanaco.

He is expected to lead the Kansashi’s when they host Chambishi in their week fifteen fixture on Sunday at Lumwana Grounds in Solwezi.
