Masauso Tembo, was left frustrated after his side, Nkwazi FC failed to hold on to a slender lead, to draw 1-all against Mufulira Wanderers at Edwin Imboela stadium on Sunday.

The Week 25 result leaves the Zambia Police Service-sponsored side in relegation zone with 16 points, while Mufulira Wanderers are fourth with 41 points.

Matthews Mashimikilo, gave High Flying Nkwazi, the lead in the 25th minute, but John Foloko equalized for Wanderers in the 57th minute.

Speaking in a post-match interview, Tembo said despite failing to collect three points, a point was better considering they were coming from a defeat.

“It’s a disappointing result. I think we are; if you look at the position on the log, we are in a very dangerous position. But I’m someone who believes, and I’ll keep fighting until the final whistle,” he said.

“I think Mighty came with a plan. In the first half, they really pressed us, and we didn’t look really comfortable. And I think we changed the formation a bit, and I think we settled after about 15-20 minutes, and we pushed. That’s how we got a goal.”

“Its possible” – Tembo.

With Nkwazi only picking two points in their last five matches, Tembo remains optimistic about picking up six wins in the remaining matches.

He, however, noted that they need to start scoring from the chances they have been creating.

“Looking at the position we are at. It’s very dangerous, but I’m someone who believes. Yes, games are finishing, but we still have a chance.

“If we can get five wins, six, it’s possible. We can do that with the way we are playing. We have just to put the ball in the net more.”

His counterpart, Mufulira Wanderers head coach Lameck Banda was happy with the result but bemoaned his side’s missed chances.

“It’s a good result, though we wanted a win, but I think it’s a fair result. We missed a couple of chances, but I think it’s the name of the game. We just need to work on it so that next time we get the goals that we want.”

Owen Mwamba won the club’s MOM award.

Looking ahead, Banda has set sights on a quick rebound to winning ways when they host bitter rival, Nkana FC on Thursday.

“Against Nkana, it’s not going to be an easy game because we’ve played three times against them this season. So they would want to come out with a win, but I think with proper planning, we’ll be able to get the result that we want.”
