Sipho Mumbi, assistant coach of Nkana Football Club, says the team with greater psychological preparation would win the forthcoming Kitwe derby against rival side, Power Dynamos this Saturday.
Power Dynamos defeated Nkana 2-0 in their first meeting at Woodlands Stadium as Nkana was deeply involved in the relegation struggle.
Nkana is coming from a 2-1 win over Konkola Blades while Power defeated Mutondo Stars 1-nil on Wednesday.
Kalampa’s victory over Blades, which moved them to 11th place on the log with 34 points, is a motivating factor.
“It’s a sweet victory for the boys and the supporters,” Mumbi said. “Our main focus was on this game [against Konkola Blades]. We have been preparing for it. We know psychologically that it is not going to be an easy game.”
The Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola, home of seven-time champion Zesco United, will host the Kitwe derby.
“If we don’t win, we don’t lose” plots Mumbi.
Mumbi said that Nkana is resolute about getting all three points over the league defending champions at a neutral venue.
“We are playing on neutral ground, and we are going to push the boys to make sure we get maximum points. It is going to be a very good opportunity for us to redeem ourselves because Power Dynamos beat us in Lusaka.”
“In football, there are three results, if we don’t win, we don’t lose the match against Power Dynamos,” he stated.
