Napsa Stars football club coach Perry Mutapa has said he is not scared of Zanaco’s coaching duo of Nigerian legend Emmanuel Amunike and Kelvin Kaindu when his side meets the bankers this Saturday in the Zambian Super League for the first time this season.

Amunike, a former Super Eagles and Barcelona FC star was hired in September this year by Zanaco as a consultant to their technical bench but he has recently been seen taking the front seat and handling the banker’s coaching roles side by side with head coach Kaindu during match days in the Super League.

Mutapa has however said, despite the two being good coaches with rich football history to their names and working together, he is not scared to meet them tomorrow in a week 11 fixture.

“I can’t be scared, obviously, two very good coaches as you have put it, the consultant [Emmanuel Amunike] its good he is here and Kelvin [Kaindu]- very good coach, he has coached a lot of big teams in Zambia but its a game and I think everyone has their tactics, and the [team with the best] tactics on the day tomorrow will win the day,” a confident Mutapa said.

The last time Zanaco and Napsa met in the Super League was in the 2020/21 season which saw the Pensioners lose home and away to the Bankers and get relegated from the topflight.

The Bankers have also managed to beat Napsa twice in their last three Super League meetings and have scored six goals while Napsa scored only four goals.

Mutapa says , “this is a new Napsa” with a crop of new players and his team will not dwell on history but focus on the game this weekend.

“Anything that happened when I was not at Napsa doesn’t concern me, we are not worried about that,” he said.

“I am not worried because they were beaten in the last two matches. This is a new Napsa, I think we have players like Lenard Mulenga, Augustine Mulenga, and Sydney Kalume, so we are not concerned and its a reminder that whatever happened doesn’t concern the new Napsa; For us, the most important thing is to think positively and get the maximum points.”

Napsa who are sitting 6th on the log standings with 16 points and Zanaco who are in 12th place with 12 points, clash tomorrow at the Nkoloma stadium in Lusaka.

Both teams will head into this fixture after coming from recording barren draws last weekend and will look to find their scoring ways.
